Road Trippin' It with the 2013 Kia Rio SX! #KiaReview

Disclosure: I was sent the 2013 Kia Rio SX to review and test drive for one week. I was not compensated in any other way. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I was very excited to be given the opportunity to be able to review the 2013 Kia Rio SX! I was able to drive it around for one week to see what I thought about it. Let me first tell you a little bit about it before I tell you my opinions on the car!

The 2013 Kia Rio SX is a four door sedan that seats up to 5. It gets an average of 31 miles per gallon in gas mileage. It has power windows and door locks, AM/FM/CD/MP3 radio along with Sirius Satellite Radio availability. It has Bluetooth Wireless Technology and USB and Auxillary input jacks. This particular Rio had leather seats as well as heated seats! Also this Kia has key-less entry and start up!

I was really excited to try out the 2013 Kia Rio because both my sister and my mother-in-law have Kia's that they both enjoy. Plus, we have an older model Honda Accord so it doesn't have any of the features that newer cars have. It took the gentleman who dropped it off nearly a half an hour to explain to me all the features this car had! And he was going fast! There are so many neat features on this car, it's incredible! Some of my favorites were the Bluetooth and the navigation system. I was able to sync up my iPhone 4 to the car and listen to my music, as well as make phone calls through the car's speakers. There is  a little microphone on the top of the car which makes it possible to have a phone conversation without ever taking your hands off the wheel! The navigation system was also built right in and I was able to plugin exactly where I needed to go and get turn by turn directions right through the speakers of the car. It was very convenient!

A few of my husband's favorite features included the key-less start up and the good gas mileage! The key-less start up and entry was very nice.  As long as your were within a few feet of the car with the lock and unlock control you could lock and unlock the car just by pressing a button on the door. Then once you are in, as long as you have your foot on the break, you can start it up just by pressing a button. The gas mileage was pretty nice too! The average miles per gallon for this car is 31. But when I was driving it I usually got around 33 mpgs. We took two longer rides (about an hour each there and back) and on the interstate it got up to 38 mpgs!

One thing I didn't love about the Kia Rio was that it was a little bit cramped in the back for the kids, especially with Isaac still rear facing in his carseat. There was plenty of room for them, just not much room for anything else. Plus they were a lot closer than they are in our car, so they kept bothering and touching each other! They were just a little bit closer than I would have preferred. Not a huge deal, but still something to think about.

I could go on and on about all the cool features of this car but the ones above are the ones we liked best! It drove good and was the perfect size for me as far as driving it went. The 2013 Kia Rio SX is a great car for small families or individuals!  I really enjoyed being able to test drive it for a week and the kids were even sad to see it go!

  1. This looks like such a nice car! With 4 children, our car days are over for a quite a while, but I like what Kia has to offer. Looks spacious with the carseats and your kids seem to enjoy themselves!

  2. I dream about cars with keyless entry - I don't know why, I just think "luxury" when I think of them! ha. This is such an awesome opportunity that you were given though! Very cool, mama.

  3. How cool that you got to test drive for a week. I never had a clue that a Kia would have all of those features! Unfortunately my car days are over for now, with 3 kids we need A LOT of space!

  4. How awesome! I would love to test drive that car for a week!

Keyless entry (and locking) is such a wonderful feature, especially when getting 2 kids out of the car. Otherwise, I have to remind myself to walk on the right side of the car to let that child out and then to the other (driver) side to let the other kid out so I can lock the door. Most of the time I would leave the car unlocked because I was to lazy to walk back to the other side of the car if I let out the child on the driver's side first :-)

  7. OMG! Love that MPG - it's the only thing I wish I could have with my van.

My Mom is in the market for a new car and I'd love for her to look at Kia - so affordable and they look very nice! Thanks for the review!
