Night Time Diapering Experimenting! Night One!
So if you read my post a few days ago I'm doing a little big of experimenting with night diapering. I have just been using disposables on Isaac at night until now. I wanted to give it a shot so I purchased a fitted diaper and a wool cover to try. But I got tired of waiting for my fluffy mail to come so I decided to go ahead and give night time diapering a try--with a pocket diaper!
So my first go round at night diapering was with a BumGenius 4.0 One-Size pocket diaper! If you aren't familiar with these they have a waterproof PUL outer layer and a pocket on the inside to stuff inserts. So what I did was double stuff the pocket with two microfiber inserts and put some fleece on the outside of the pocket so he wouldn't feel wet. It was a tad bit bulky but not too bad.
I was super nervous about him waking up but he slept all night in the diaper! When he woke up the next morning his bed, pajamas, and SKIN was dry!! The diaper inserts were soaked but the fleece kept all the moisture away from his skin! I was so pleased!
My fitted diaper and wool came this week so we'll be giving that a try here in the next few days!
Do you use pockets at night? What's your tried and true method for night time diapering?

BG4.0 is exactly what we diaper our little one with at night, too! Occasionally with both inserts if she's had a lot to drink before bed. We've only ever had one tiny leak with them!
ReplyDeleteI think I may try it with just one insert too! He's not a heavy wetter so hopefully it'll hold up.
DeleteWe've been experimenting with night time solutions as well. Double stuffing the BG wasn't working for us and we went to sposies at not as well. Thanks for reminding me to keep at it though. I really want to get back to cloth full time :)
ReplyDeleteWe also use a double stuffed BG 4.0 at night. So far so good with my 6 month old. But I know there's lots of options if she becomes a heavier wetter as she gets older.
ReplyDeleteWe used a prefold and cover at night for a long time but the stink was horrid in the morning and my guy was getting burned. Then we did pockets double stuffed but same thing. This was even after stripping them over and over again. I finally gave up and have been using a disposable at night and I hate spending the money on them. Upon reading another cd blogger say she uses *gasp* tide! And has no issues, I've started the trial. I've been so very frustrated with natural soap and stink and stripping, I figured, why not! I have nothing to loose! If I loose the morning stink I'd be glad to cd at night! Any recommendations?
ReplyDeleteI use Tide also. We haven't had a strong smell in the mornings yet do hopefully we won't.
DeleteI used a BG 4.0 with the microfiber insert and a Joey Bunz hemp insert under - it worked great! The hemp insert is great when your little one starts soaking through the microfiber insert.
ReplyDeleteWe use either a fuzzy buns or BG double stuffed at night and have been doing this since Tindra was 6 weeks old- she is 4.5 months now and have NEVER had a night time leak!
ReplyDeleteWe're currently using Bumgenius 4.0's as well, with flats folded and stuffed as the insert. BUT I am jealous of the fitteds and wool- I am nervous about doing wool so I am looking forward to reading how that goes for you guys. Maybe we'll try it too....as if I needed another reason to buy more fluff!! hehe
ReplyDeleteAre you currently using original tide or free and clear, just curious. I'm using original...per the recommendation on another blog...the name escapes me. I'm still experimenting with it.
