Pretzel Crisps® Review!

Who doesn't love a yummy snack that's portable and healthy?! I'm a huge chip lover. I could eat chips all the time! All day long! Seriously! But I know chips aren't very good for me. All that salt and greasiness...so bad! Which is why I am so excited to have discovered Pretzel Crisps®

About Pretzel Crisps®

- 110 calories per serving and no fat!
- Does not contain trans or saturated fat!

Our Growing Garden

Well hi there. I'm Kristin. I'm wife to hubs and first time mommy to my little Jibbler, otherwise known as James. I started this blog back in January 2009 to document my trying to conceive journey. I have a Catahoula named Oscar and a calico kitty named Bunny. I breastfeed. I babywear. I cloth diaper. I like to make my own baby food. I guess you can call me a crunchy mama. I love to read. Lonesome Dove and Outlander are my favorites. I love peanut butter. Bring me Reese's and you have a ticket to lifetime love from me. I have a degree in Biology. I'm a Christian. I love the feeling of putting on brand new, never worn socks. I love sniffing the lemony fresh steam from the dishwasher. Is that weird? Anyway, I recently had an epiphany. I am working on making my life what I want it to be because this.is.it. We have ONE chance to create our family, our outlook, the world around us.

EMI Yoshi Review!

Ever hosted a party or event and wanted to use plastic but didn't want the cheap look of plastic utensils? Well I have a solution for you!  "EMI Yoshi products are high quality, disposable or reusable plastic plates, cups, bowl and serving ware." They are not only stronger and more durable than your typical plastic products but they are also super stylish!

I received the Square Waves 5oz bowls, like the ones above, in both black and white, to review. These bowls are so cute and stylish! But even better than that, they are super durable! Not only are they perfect for serving at parties or events, but they are the perfect size bowl for toddler snacks! That's what I have been using them for ever since I received them! They work great for cereal treats, goldfish, and even pudding or ice cream! And they are so sturdy I would consider them toddler-proof! Even if your kiddo likes to bang things when they eat, these bowls will hold up to the torture! I love it!

Check out some more of their chic and stylish products that can be used for any occasion!

Carmex Vanilla & Lime (New flavors!) Review & Giveaway!

Carmex has two new awesome flavors for their chapstick and as part of the Carmex Blog Squad I was given the opportunity to review them!
The Lime and Vanilla flavors are ultra smooth, and ultra moisturizing so your lips feel and taste great!

I am a huge Carmex fan anyway, but I am now an even bigger fan because of these new flavors! I love wearing chapstick with a great flavor to it! My favorite is the Vanilla stick, but my hubby loves the Lime! He's even snatched it up and taken it to work with him to have for himself! :) The new flavors are yummy but yet light and not to strong of a flavor or scent. The chapstick is the same great stuff that relieves those dry lips and provides tons of moisture!

I was also given the Carmex Moisture Plus Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm to try. This is great for when you want the moisture and a little shine too! I really like this stuff! It's not flavored but its soft and smooth and light! I like to wear it all the time because it gives me that moisture and also makes me feel like I have a little gloss on! It also has SPF 15 so my lips are protected from the sun! Want some color? The Moisture Plus balms come in tints too such as sheer pink, sheer peach, and sheer berry!

Carmex also threw in a really awesome picnic blanket with a zip up pouch that is connected! Because they are just so nice like that! :)
Hubby snatched the Lime stick up and took it to work before I could get a picture of it lol!

Buy It!
You can find Carmex products at most any of your local retailers including Walgreens, Target, or Walmart!
Win It!
One lucky winner will receive a prize package just like I reviewed! This includes one Vanilla stick, one Lime Stick, one Moisture Plus stick, and one picnic blanket!

Dial Doctors Review & Giveaway!

I was contacted by a Dial Doctors representative and was immediately intrigued by what they offer! Dial Doctors is a company that provides affordable health care to Americans through telemedicine. While this is not health insurance, it is a great way to be able to consult with a doctor and save money as well!

When Noah was about 9 months old, he had his first stomach bug. This was the first time Brian or myself had ever seen him truly vomit. It was so scary for both of us! And of course, it was about 2 in the morning so we didn't know what to do or who to call. We didn't know if we needed to take him to the ER or just watch him until morning. Being a scared first time mom I called my own mother and woke her up from her sleep to ask her what to do, but if I'd of known about Dial Doctors then I would have definitely called them first!

What does Dial Doctors have to offer?

  • customers have unlimited 24/7 access to a doctor(all state licensed physicians) by phone or email
  • discounts in vision, dental, hearing, diabetic supplies, and more
  • saves you a trip to the ER, if not needed, and that ER bill as well!

Dial Doctors costs $29.95 per family plus $5.95 shipping and handling. Once your family is registered you have unlimited access to the doctors and consultants. You can call at any time to see about discounts on health products you use all the time. And there is always a doctor on call, 24/7 , for those late night sickies all our kiddos get at some point. There are no hidden fees and you can cancel at any time!

My Review

I received a 30 day trial of Dial Doctors to review their service. While I haven't had to actually call the doctors for a late night consult, I love the peace of mind in knowing that I can at any time. I know there will be times again when it's the middle of the night and I won't quite be sure if I need to take Noah or the new baby in to the doctor or if there is something I can do at home to help them. Knowing that I can call and talk to a real deal doctor about it makes me feel so much better.

I also love the discounts I can get with Dial Doctors! I can get my prenatal vitamins at a great price WITH an additional 10% off through Dial Doctors. I can also get great products like California Baby diaper rash cream or gripe water for the baby at discounted prices! And there is even an automatic monthly shipment option!

I love that this service can give me peace of mind, and save me tons of money! And it's super affordable to purchase the service as well!

One lucky reader will win a FREE 30 day trial of Dial Doctors!

Throwing in the towel!

Potty training has pretty much come to a stand still for about the past 2 weeks. I've been trying so hard to push through it but this morning I pretty much called it quits. Noah went through THREE pairs of underwear in less than an hour! Failed to tell me he had to pee until after he had already peed his pants. This has been happening on and off for about 2 weeks now. He'll have a good day here or there but then he'll have a horrible day or two or three! So this morning I was so frustrated and just asked him if he wanted a diaper and he said yes. So he's been in diapers all day.

I am just so sick of washing underwear and sheets and clothes. He was doing so well the first few weeks and hardly had any accidents and then all of the sudden its like he just quit trying. I have a few theories as to why. My main one is that maybe he is sensing that the baby will be here soon and he wants to be the baby as long as possible. I'm not sure. I do know that he has to have some sense of it. We are starting to bring out baby stuff and talk about the baby more as we prepare and I know he hears us and most likely is beginning to understand.

I've decided I'm just going to let him completely lead the way. If he wants to be in a diaper I'm going to let him be in a diaper. If he wants underwear he can have underwear. I'm not going to force anything on him. He's been in a diaper all day but still has asked to go sit on the potty a few times today. So maybe tomorrow he'll be all about being a big boy again. But even if I have two in diapers come this winter, I'm still going to let him lead the way. Otherwise we both get extremely frustrated and that's not good for either of us. :(

Hometown Memories

Today I went to see my mom and sisters (and pick up Noah bear because he spent the night with them-can't forget little guy lol). Well my mom still lives in the town where I grew up and I am super sappy these days [stupid pregnancy hormones] and I found myself just remembering some really good times in my hometown. I really took a walk down memory lane today.

Brian picks on my little hometown and calls it redneck town or hickville (he's not really one to talk..he grew up in a small country town too), and I thought the same thing until I moved away lol. I wanted nothing more than to get out of that little town. But now I love that little town. It's part of who I am now. I miss the Friday night football games, the riding around in the parking lot at the high school, the little fiasco's my friends and I would have...including going mud bogging in the dark and stealing little "for sale" or "yard sale" road signs! (terrible I know!)

This is the town that I experienced my first heartbreak, lost my virginity, and made some of the best friends I ever had. It's where I grew up...literally and figuratively. It may be a little hick town but it is the town that made me.

Reminds me of this song by Miranda Lambert....

Do you have any hometown memories? I'd love to hear them!

Chicken Soup for the Soul {Just for Teenagers and Just for Preteens} Review + Giveaway!

We all know being a teenager is hard! Those years were really the best of times and the worst of times for me! I look back and I miss the freedom of having no bills to pay or responsibilities, being able to sleep until noon, and hanging out with friends all the time. But I also look back and remember being bullied, my first heartbreak, and constantly worrying about how I looked and what people thought of me. They were some tough years! I remember as a teenager reading Chicken Soup for the Soul for Teenagers and some of those stories really helped me through some tough times. I could relate to a lot of the teens in the book and felt like I wasn't going through things alone when I read this book.

Now there is a new, more updated version of Chicken Soup for the Soul- Just for Teenagers!  A lot has changed since I was a teenager (even though it doesn't seem like it's been that long ago). Nobody had Facebook or Twitter when I was in high school! If you got bullied at school, you could at least escape that at home! Now there is cyber bullying and sexting and all kinds of different obstacles teens have to face!  This book is for those teens. Just for Teenagers deals with real life issues teens today have to face. I love that it deals with the issues of today and not just the same stuff that I went through. (Although a lot of it is similar too). This book covers friendships, dealing with tough times, liking yourself, and reaching your goals. It also deals with things like being bullied or having that first heartbreak. This book let's teens know they are not going through this confusing, mixed up life alone and that all teenagers face these issues all the time. It's a support group in a book!
Being a Preteen can be just as hard as being an actual teenager! Your not quite a child anymore, but your not an adult or even a teenager for that matter! Your stuck right in the middle, trying to find some identity within yourself and just trying to make it through. Chicken Soup for the Soul- Just for Preteens is perfect for your student who's stuck right in the middle of being a child and being a teenager. This book covers issues Preteens face every day such as starting a new school, making new friends, liking yourself, being bullied, and that first crush. It also lets preteens know they are not a lone and covers almost anything they could be going through.

These are both great gifts for the teen or preteen in your life!!

Buy It!
or visit your local bookstore
Win It!
One lucky follower will win their own copy of Chicken Soup for the Soul- Just for Preteens

Stocking up for Baby!

Ok so some of ya'll are going to be really disappointed with me. I have decided I'm not going to try to cloth diaper baby Isaac right from day one. I know! I know! I'm pathetic lol. But honestly I just have no idea what it's going to be like with a 2.5 year old and a newborn and I really just don't want to bite off more than I can chew right away. I may have him and it may not be too much of an adjustment and decide to give it a try pretty quickly. But I'm not going to go in thinking I absolutely have to cloth diaper him right from the start. So I am slowly but surely stocking up on disposable diapers and wipes for little man. Of course, using my coupons, but there's another trick to it too..to get them at an ultimate low price! (Like FREE!)  Here's how!

So if your not familiar, a lot of the bigger drug stores have rewards programs where you can purchase certain things and get a certain $ amount back in the form of the stores rewards. Walgreens has Register Rewards, Rite Aid has +UP buck, and CVS has ECBs (Extra Care Bucks). These are the 3 main stores I shop at. All 3 of these stores usually have some pretty decent sales on diapers, that usually consist of receiving their rewards if you buy a certain kind or a certain amount.

So for example, recently at Right Aid they had a deal where if you bought 2 Jumbo Size packs of Pampers at $9.50 each you would receive $4 in +UP rewards. They also had a deal that week where if you bought a Gillete Proglide Razor for $9.99 you received $5 +UP rewards. So I took advantage of both of those deals and did this:

(2) Pampers Swaddlers Jumbo Pack (36 count) @ $9.50ea
Used 2 $2/1 Pampers diapers
 = $15.00

(1) Gillete Proglide Razor  @ $9.99
Used $4/1 Gillete Proglide
=$5.99

Used $5 +UP Rewards I received from a previous transaction.

Total =$15.99 - $9 UP Rewards I got back = $6.99 for whole transaction!!

If you divide that total up between the three items its less than $3 an item! And the best part is I have $9 to get another pack of diapers for almost free!

There's deals like this all the time at all three of these stores! I got some super cheap wipes at Walgreens just the other day too! If your in the south like me check out Southern Savers each week for the best diaper deals around the south. Another great blog that does the weekly diaper deals is Just Married with Coupons! Both of these sites will tell you what the deals are with what coupons to use and how cheap you can get the diapers for! All you have to do is go to the store armed with the right coupons! It's such a great way to get diapers and other baby products for super cheap!

Fotobounce Review!

Fotobounce is a really cool new software for organizing and sharing your pictures! If your anything like I am, you have a ton of pictures! I swear I take pictures of Noah daily! With Fotobounce I am able to keep all those hundreds of pictures organized and safe right here on my laptop!

So what exactly does Fotobounce consist of? Well it's basically a software you download to your PC that keeps track of all your photos for you. But that's not all it does! From there you can have your photos organized exactly how you want them, even by someone's face! With the face recognition feature you can view all the photos with Grandma in them in all your albums! But you can also organize them by date, or event, or significant place...it's basically however you choose to organize them! But that's not all! You can edit your pictures also! You can crop them, change the coloring, rotate, and everything right there! I love this feature because I am constantly changing something or croping something out of my pics. But my favorite feature of all? You can use Fotobounce to post pictures to Facebook, Twitter, or Flickr!! All with a simple click! Don't feel comfortable putting pictures on those websites? No problem! You can create a network right on Fotobounce of your family and friends, known as "Bouncers" and share those pictures safely and privately! That way you don't have to worry about anyone you don't want seeing the pictures seeing them! How cool is that?! A new improved version has just been released called Fotobounce 3.5 and a new program called Fotobounce Viewer has also just been released which allows you to view Fotobounce libraries safely and securely on your Android, Windows Mac, and Linux systems!

I am really enjoying this new software! It was so easy to download to my computer and it makes my photo obsession so much more pleasant lol! I can do everything I need to all on this one program! It's so nice to be able to upload my photos, edit them, and share them all in the same program! My favorite feature of course is being able to share on Facebook and Twitter! This is seriously my favorite new way to organize all of my photos!

To download Fotobounce for yourself and join in on the fun go to http://fotobounce.com/download/!

Fun With Food Friday- Crockpot Spaghetti Casserole!

Today I have another awesome crockpot recipe for you to try! My friend Allison gave me this recipe, and I finally got around to trying it this week! It's a cool spin on Spaghetti, and if your kids like cheese this is a great way to get them to get their spaghetti!

What you Need
-1.5lbs ground round
-1 medium onion, chopped
-1 (26 ounce) jar tomato and basil pasta sauce
-1/4 cup butter
-1/4 cup all-purpose flour
-1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
-1 cup Parmesan cheese
-1/4 teaspoon pepper
-8 ounces uncooked spaghetti, broken into pieces
-3 cups (12 ounces) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
-grated Parmesan cheese

What to Do
1. Cook ground round and onion in a large skillet, stirring until beef crumbles and is no longer pink; drain meat and return to skillet. Stir pasta sauce into beef mixture.
2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat; whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 1 minute, whisking constantly. Gradually whisk in milk; cook over medium heat; whisking constantly, 8 minutes or until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Remove from heat, and stir in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese and pepper. It will look similar to this:

3. Spoon one-third of meat mixture into a lightly greased 5 quart slow cooker. Spread half of broken spaghetti over meat; pour half of white sauce over noodles and sprinkle with 1 cup cheddar cheese. Repeat layers once. Spread remaining meat mixture over cheese. Top with remaining 1 cup cheddar cheese.
4. Cover and cook on LOW for 4 hour. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Parmesan cheese. Makes 6-8 Servings.

Look at all that cheesy goodness!!!

We love cheese in this house so this was a big hit for all of us!! The only thing I would do differently is maybe cook it closer to 5 hours just to get the noodles a little softer! It was so good and so easy! It does require a little prep time (I'd say 20 min) but it's well worth it!

Make sure to check out what Mama Chocolate cooked up this week for Fun with Food Friday!!

I always needs new recipes to try so as some incentive to you, if you email me a recipe to review you can get 10 extra entries into any current giveaway!! Just leave a comment below the giveaway stating what recipe you sent!! Recipes can be sent to mommyferg02(at)gmail(dot)com.
