Mommy Talk Tuesday {Losing the Baby Weight!)

The Not So Secret Confessions of
a Second Time Mom

This week's topic is Losing the Baby Weight! How much weight did you gain  while you were pregnant? Have you lost the baby weight yet? If so, how did you lose the weight? Do you have any tips for other moms? If you haven't lost the weight yet, do you have any questions for moms who have?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I gained about 20lbs when I was pregnant with Isaac. I was the smallest I had been since well before Noah so I think that helped a lot. I am so happy to say I have lost all 20lbs plus two extra pounds! I have to give breastfeeding the majority of the credit. I still eat like I'm pregnant but it doesn't seem to stick with me! Other than just breastfeeding I do try to work out a few times a week. I do Dustin Meher's Babytone Workout DVD or Jillian Micheal's 30 Day Shred, and a few nights a week I go to a Zumba class. That help's me get in shape because even though the weight is off there is still plenty of jiggle!

The only advice I have for other moms trying to lose the baby weight is to keep at it. Don't give up. Being a mom is hard and takes up so much of our time. But even if you just do 10 minutes a day-take a walk, do some squats, choose those carrots instead of the chocolate- that's doing something good for YOU and it will pay off in the end.

Here's a picture of me 4 months postpartum:

  1. Eating like you're pregnant and not gaining as much is one of the gretest things while you're breastfeeding!

  2. I'm starting Hoopnotica. I'm only 4-weeks post-partum after having twins, and have lost all but 5 pounds so far, but I need to lose some additional weight anyway - and definitely get some tone which I have been lacking for years! Trying to eat better, and chasing our 23-month-old will hopefully help as well!

  3. i gained about 23 lbs during pregnancy- this was my 2nd one but i was the healthiestat age 32 than i've ever been-even in better shape than my 20's! I lost all the weight and I attribute that to working out during pregnncy (obv not the same workouts during the 3rd trimester!) and definitely breastfeeding. I'm still nursing my 14 mo old-though only a couple times during the day and then a couple times at nught.....I HOPE I don't put weight back on after breastfeeding is totally done! Have any moms experienced that?
What has also helped is working out at home-I rotate dvds because otherwise I get really bored. I also weight trains 3-4 days a week to maintain muscle mass. I go for walks when I can and push my little guy in his stroller-just staying as active as I can. Eating great most of the time but yes, I do still have dessert every day- usually low fat icecream! It's possible to do that and still lose/maintain weight.

  4. Every single time I lose the baby weight, I get pregnant again. I give up! :)

I have only gained 9 pounds with this pregnancy, and I'm in my 8th month. All of them were during this last month. This is my 3rd child. I gained like 50 with my 1st child, so this is a drastic difference for me.

  5. I gained 30 lbs with my most recent little one. Went from 143 to 173! I am currently 1 week postpartum and breastfeeding. Since his birth I have lost 13 lbs!!! Hello 160! Looking forward to losing the rest but it will take some time because I under went a c-section. In the mean time I look forward to losing it through feeding our son.

  6. I gained 60lbs with my pregnancy (my Dr was fine with that weight gain since I was active right up to and including the day I delivered my daughter). I was back to my pre pregnancy weight 4.5 months after having my daughter by walking and hiking every day. We also dance a great deal with our daughter since she loves it so that has helped as well. I did attend the occasional boot camp class. I had a c-section too but got moving as soon as I could after. I started hiking when my daughter was 7 weeks with a group of moms I met on Meetup and it was the best thing. It got me out in the winter and got the weight falling off. I do watch what I eat as well.
